Joe Music loves the Zune Pass

May 12, 2009

Easily the best purchasing decision you can make for your music needs, the Zune Pass is a monthly subscription that gives you the ability to download to 3 computers and your Zune device the entire catalog of songs available.  So it’s good to see them finally start to advertise the fact that Apple’s pricing plan is antiquated and kinda ridiculous, you know?

Now, for all of you saying “hey, I want to own my music!  If I stop subscribing I don’t have the music anymore!”  Boo Hoo.  How many times have you listened to the hundreds of albums you bought over the past year?  2 years?  Well, for $15 a month you can listen to it any time you want.  And, if you decide that you really gotta own it, then you can buy it.  But I’ve used the subscription model for music for about 5 years now, and can count on 1 hand the number of albums I’ve bought since.  What I can’t do is actually find the albums.  I know there around here somewhere….

Disclosure: in my day job I work for Microsoft, but not in the Entertainment division.  This is a personal website, and my personal experience.  So there.  :)
